29,029 Feet for Bobby - Design 1 - Every Step Matters in Honor of Bobby Tee

This September, I’m taking on something BIG. You could say it’s as big as a mountain. As big as Mount Everest to be exact. On September 11-12, I’ll be taking on the 29029 Everesting challenge in Sun Valley, Idaho with two amazing friends/work colleagues.

The challenge is simple in theory, but daunting in execution. Hike up a small(er) mountain than Mount Everest enough times that you eventually reach 29,029 feet of elevation which matches Everest itself. We’ll be doing 15 ascents: 1.6 miles each covering 1,959 vertical feet gained per ascent. The fun starts at 6 am on the 11th and ends at 6pm on the 12th. If sleep is to be had, it’ll happen in a tent with no electricity. Like I said, it’s going to be daunting.

I also mentioned my friends, Scott and George, and they really are amazing. This was their idea and their mission was simple - they want to do it for Bobby. In that spirit, we’ve setup a fundraiser and are asking for your help. We’re going to be raising money for the Dup15q Alliance (https://dup15q.org). As many of you are aware, the Alliance is the main (only?) group in existence that is out there fighting for “Dupers” like Bobby. Small but mighty, I cannot think of where we’d be without the Alliance.

You’ll see that our team goal looks large, but I firmly believe that we can reach it! Just like I believe I’ll reach that final 15th summit!

So while, yes, I am here asking for help fundraising. I’m also here asking for help on this training journey. Today completes week 1 of a rigorous 20-week training plan that I intend to follow as closely as possible but I would sure appreciate the occasional message of encouragement. This whole event is completely outside of my comfort zone but the mission is so important to me that I’m going to work my tail off to get it done!!
